Zambales councilor survives attack

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A municipal councilor in Zambales was shot and wounded by two motorcycle-riding men along the national highway in Palauig town Monday.

In a report to the regional police command here, Senior Superintendent Rolando Felix, Zambales police director, said Palauig councilor Crispin Maliberan, 35, was on his way to the town hall aboard a motorcycle when he was attacked.

One of the two men alighted and poked a caliber .38 revolver at Maliberan, who was able to grab it. During the scuffle, the gun went off, hitting the councilor on the shoulder.

Before fleeing, the gunmen fired at Maliberan but missed. – Ric Sapnu
