LEGAZPI CITY , Philippines – Two siblings aged 11 and 12 died of food poisoning while four other family members were hospitalized in Sta. Elena, Camarines Norte yesterday after they ate fish locally known as talamusang or baboy-baboy, a report reaching Camp General Simeon Ola here said.
The report said Ismael Lladones, 12, and his sister Emalyn, 11, died while being treated at a local hospital. Their parents Elmer, 44, and Mary Jane, 40, and siblings Emil, nine, and Erlina, three, survived the incident.
Dennis del Socorro, Bicol director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, said he has ordered an investigation into the fish poisoning, the first involving talamusang, a catfish-looking species that the Lladones family had long been eating. – Cet Dematera
