Chinese tourist drowns in Leyte
Palompon, Leyte , Philippines – A Chinese tourist drowned while snorkeling off the Kalanggaman Island Sunday.
LGU information officer William Merin identified the victim as Li Fan Ying, 26, of Shanghai.
She was reported missing past 12 p.m. Sunday but her body was found floating in the waters off the island allegedly owned by controversial Legacy Group owner Celso de Los Angeles.
Merin said the victim who was accompanied by a co-worker from Shanghai, Tang Li Ping, 27, were billeted at the Blue Corrals in Malapascua Island in Daan Bantayan Island in the northern part of Cebu Province. The duo decided to visit the Kalanggaman Island to snorkel as the island is known for its beautiful and clear shorelines. Merin said the victim’s body was immediately brought to a local funeral parlor here while waiting for a representative from the Chinese embassy to claim the body.
