38-year-old man drowns in Olongapo beach

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga , Philippines  – A 38-year-old man drowned in one of the beaches in Olongapo City, on Maunday Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines - Police identified the victim as Joel Gadin, 38, a resident of Bagong Barrio Caloocan City.

The victim was found floating unconscious at the waters of Drift Wood Beach in Barangay Barreto, Olongapo City.

Rescue team brought the victim to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors.

In his report here, Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, officer-in-charge of Olongapo City police, said that the victim together with his relatives were swimming at the said beach when the accident occurred.

Albayalde said the victim had consumed several bottles of beer and allegedly was already drunk when he swam on the beach.

Relatives of the victim discovered his body an hour later, floating unconscious.    – Ric Sapnu
