MANILA, Philippines - Four months of extensive construction activities coupled with favorable weather conditions resulted in a 25 percent ahead-of-schedule accomplishment for the ongoing concrete paving works on the Jct. Bearin-Salong-Tapi-Bantayan Road in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Third district Engineer Viola Hitalia, of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Negros Occidental, said that are taking advantage of the good weather in the project area to pursue the early completion of the 5.338-kilometer road project costing P85 million.
Based on Hitalia’s report to DPWH Undersecretary Rafael Yabut, in-charge of Visayas operations, and Region 6 director Rolando Asis, almost one kilometer has been paved and that some sections are ready for pouring of concrete, giving the project more than 35 percent in overall work progress and projected completion much earlier than the December 2009 target.
Earlier, DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., during a recent staff meeting in Pampanga, reminded DPWH field executives to take advantage of the summer season to fast-track the completion of pump-priming projects nationwide.
