Security tightened in Iligan

-

DAVAO CITY, Philippines  – Security in Iligan City has been tightened following the spate of bombings that struck the city for the past months.

According to Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II, head of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Eastern Mindanao, Iligan City is set to invest more resources on security, including crisis management in an effort to further strengthen and enhance the city’s security plans, particularly in the fight against terrorism.

“We have put the necessary security measures in place which means putting in more resources to thwart anyone planning to sow terror in Iligan City,” said Caro, adding that the Joint Task Force Depensa Iligan members recently underwent a crisis management and contingency planning exercise aimed to integrate the efforts of the various concerned agencies and stakeholders in the area.

Caro said JTFDI shall also work on improving its communications network as well as on the inter-operability aspect of its operational effectiveness and efficiency.

The need for more ambulances was also cited during the same JTFDI crisis management confab while the local government and the various establishments have also been asked to upgrade and expand their close-circuit television (CCTV) coverage in strategic parts of Iligan City.

JTFDI, Caro said, includes in its coverage the proper response systems to terrorism and critical incidents including an inventory of the structures and resources Iligan City has for responding to a crisis.

Caro furthered that JTFDI does not  only consist of military and police personnel but also those from other agencies concerned.
