Ex-seaman stabbed dead

BAGABAG, Nueva Vizcaya – A former seaman was brutally killed by a tricycle passenger here who mercilessly stabbed him at least 15 times Thursday.

Senior Inspector Maciste Extor Serrano, Bagabag police chief, yesterday identified the fatality as Mario Bared, 62, a retired seaman of Barangay Murong here who was repeatedly stabbed by one Lope Sanchez Jr. of Mulanay, Quezon province.

According to reports, Bared was driving his service tricycle at around 8:30 p.m. when he offered Sanchez for a ride.

However, upon reaching an isolated stretch on the way to Barangay Murong, the suspect with no apparent reason suddenly stabbed him. The victim reportedly managed to run away but was followed by the suspect who stabbed him repeatedly when he was cornered. – Charlie Lagasca
