Jueteng rampant in Quezon, CAR?

Candelaria, Quezon – The illegal numbers game jueteng is allegedly gaining ground anew in Central and Southern Tagalog with the emergence of a new jueteng czar from Quezon.

Reports said that a certain Leodegario “Luding” Bonggaling, 56 years old, a palay buyer from Candelaria town reportedly a jueteng operator in San Pablo City, Alaminos, Laguna; Santo Tomas, Batangas; Calasiao and Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan; Baguio City; including the whole province of La Union and Benguet.

Draws are reportedly held in the above-cited cities and provinces collecting a total net income of P.5 million or P500,000 daily.

It is also alleged that the huge sums of money being collected from jueteng’s daily operation are to be used as election funds for local and national candidates in the 2010 national polls.

Constituents in the town of Candelaria are confused that 12 years ago, the Bonggaling clan used to be palay buyers.

Allegedly, they have accumulated real state properties and several buildings in Quezon.     – Michelle Zoleta
