Pampanga governor to run for president in 2010?
CABANATUAN CITY – Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio yesterday raised the possibility that he might run for president in 2010 if it is Gods’will.
Addressing reporters at the sidelines of the Kaya Natin! Caravan for Good Governance campus tour at the Araullo University here yesterday, Panlilio, a priest-turned-politician, said he would submit himself to God’s will and seek the presidency.
“Kung ano ang gusto ng Panginoon wala akong magagawa (Whatever is the will of the Lord, I cannot do anything). We are servants of the Lord,” he said.
Panlilio, along with Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca, Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo and San Isidro (Nueva Ecija) Mayor Sonia Lorenzo, delivered their message of hope to a multi-sectoral group composed of students, academicians, business groups, church groups and socio-civic organizations.
Kaya Natin! is a national movement for good governance and ethical leadership that was initially convened by the Ateneo de Manila University-School of Government.
The governor was also joined here by Kaya Natin! President Harvey, Cabanatuan Bishop Sofronio Bancud.
Panlilio said Kaya Natin! is still searching for leaders who could adhere to the movement’s advocacy for good governance. He said that the stalwarts of the movement will discuss their future plans and programs. – Manny Galvez
