A high-profile inmate tagged in several bombings in North Cotabato and who had confessed of being a member of the Al-Khobar extortion gang, and a companion bolted the provincial jail in Kidapawan City before dawn yesterday, authorities said.
Police said Mosali Cado, who is charged with multiple murders, and Samuel Nacario, a theft suspect, sawed off the iron grills of the window beside their beds.
Cado was arrested last year for his role in a spate of bombings in North Cotabato and Kidapawan. He told reporters upon his arrest that he was a member of Al-Khobar, which extorted money from local officials and businessmen.
In February 2007, 40 inmates, including three high-profile ones, also escaped from the North Cotabato provincial jail, according to GMA News. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
