A faulty wiring of a resident’s alleged illegal power connection is being blamed for a fire that ate up some 50 homes in Cainta, Rizal late Friday night.
Chief Inspector Arturo Marcos, Cainta fire marshall, said that an investigation conducted on the fire that broke out at Bermai Floodway compound in Cainta had originated from the home of Nelson Durante, located at Block 1, Lot 14 of the said compound.
Marcos said they were looking into information that the cause of the conflagration in Durante’s house was the sparking of the faulty wiring in a “jumper” he installed to illegally get power supply for his shanty.
It was learned that the fire started at around 1:10 p.m. Friday, striking terror and anguish among residents who tried to salvage as much of their belongings from their homes. – Rainier Allan Ronda
