15 injured in STAR mishap

LIPA CITY – At least 15 people were hurt when a passenger bus rammed into a 10-wheeler truck along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) here yesterday morning, a tollway official said.

Pansit downs 7 in GenSan

KORONADAL CITY – Seven residents, including five minors aged three to seven, of a village in the outskirts of General Santos City were rushed to a hospital Thursday morning due to alleged food poisoning after eating spoiled pansit bihon, a radio report said.

Truck falls off cliff; 3 killed

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Three people were killed while 48 others were seriously injured when the truck they were riding in fell into a ravine in Banna, Ilocos Norte Thursday afternoon.

Reports said the victims had just come from a picnic sponsored by a Banna councilor in Currimao town when they met the accident. – Jun Elias

Co-op manager, wife murdered

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A manager of a cooperative and his wife were murdered in their home in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija last Sunday, a belated police report said.

Antonio Danilo Lozon, manager of the Tupad Pangarap Multipurpose Cooperative, was shot in the head, while his wife Evangeline was whacked with a hard object, police said. – Ric Sapnu

Mild quake jolts Surigao Sur

A magnitude 3.2 tectonic earthquake shook Surigao del Sur yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The tremor, which occurred at 1:17 p.m. and centered at 35 kilometers northeast of Cateel, Davao Oriental, was felt at Intensity 2 in Bislig, Surigao del Sur.                  – Helen Flores
