Soldier tagged in traffic enforcer's slay nabbed

-

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – An Army soldier tagged in the fatal shooting of a traffic enforcer in Calamba City three months ago, was arrested at his hideout in Canlubang, Laguna last Friday morning, police said.

Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, Laguna police director, said the suspect, Sgt. Recarte Yadao, assigned to the Army Support Command in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, was positively identified by witnesses as the one who gunned down Jaime Garcia, a member of the Calamba City Traffic Management Office, last Aug. 19.

Labador said Yadao was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Alberto Serrano for murder.

Police said Garcia flagged down the motorcycle-riding Yadao for not wearing a helmet. An altercation ensued, leading to the shooting. – Ed Amoroso, Arnell Ozaeta
