4 thieves 'salvaged'

-

Batangas – Four suspected thieves of imported fighting cocks were found dead, believed to be victims of “salvaging (summary execution),” in San Jose, Batangas yesterday morning, police said.

Chief Inspector Manuel Castillo, San Jose police chief, identified three of the victims as Alejandro Silvano, 38, and Junry Go Bursano, 32, both of Barangay Pagasa, Quezon City; and Dominador Mendez, 31, of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

The three were identified through identification cards found in their wallets, Castillo said.

Castillo said the victims were shot in the head with a caliber .45 pistol.

He said boxes of fighting cocks and a “cock pouch” used to prevent them from making noises were found in the victims’ rented vehicle.

Castillo said thefts of fighting cocks have increased in San Jose town in the past month, alarming livestock traders. – Arnell Ozaeta
