Two mini-buses torched in Cavite

-

Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna – Two public utility mini-buses were burned by still unidentified suspects while parked inside the owner’s garage in Noveleta, Cavite early Thursday morning, police said.

Senior Superintendent Hernando Zafra, Cavite police director, said the bus owners Josephine Reyes and Chona Ocampo were astounded when they discovered that their two mini-buses with plate numbers DVG-765 and DXB-238 were engulfed in fire around 3:30 a.m. in Barangay Salcedo.

“Nagising nalang ang mag-hipag nang maramdaman nila yung init na nagmumula sa nasusunog nilang bus na nakaparada ilang metro lang ang layo sa bahay nila,” Noveleta chief of police Senior Inspector Susana de Lara told The Star.

De Lara said the burning incident was considered intentional after they recovered containers of kerosene near the charred buses.

She said, based on the statements of the owners, a close kin could be responsible for the burning because of a previous misunderstanding.

De Lara, however, refused to elaborate so as not to jeopardize their follow-up operation. “Mukhang nagka-inggitan ang mag-kakamag-anak kaya nauwi sa panununog,” she said. – Arnell Ozaeta
