3 miners die in Itogon tunnel

Itogon, Benguet – Three small-scale miners died in a tunnel in the village of Loacan in Itogon, Benguet yesterday morning after their oxygen supply reportedly ran short.

Itogon councilor Alexander Fianza identified the fatalities as brothers Virgilio Singwa, 30, and Roel Singwa, 34, and Roger Rillera, all residents of Mankayan town.

Itogon is still reeling from the death of six miners in a flooded tunnel in Antamok. Ten others were rescued during the incident. – Artemio Dumlao
