Guard slain in payroll rob

Batangas – A 45-year-old security guard escorting the Taiwanese manager of a steel company was shot dead by two ski mask-wearing men who carted away the P700,000 payroll they had just withdrawn from a bank in Bauan town Monday, police said.

Superintendent Antonio Malabanan, Bauan police chief, said the victim, Catalino Anglo, of the Blue Tip Security Agency, escorted Joan Tsai, manager of the CKU Steel Corp. in Barangay Maynaga, Mabini town, in withdrawing the huge sum from the Metrobank-Bauan branch. – Arnell Ozaeta, Ed Amoroso
