- James Mananghaya -

The Philippine Military Academy is formally accepting today 271 plebes that would form Bagwis Class of 2012.

Of the 271 plebes who underwent a rigorous admission process, 238 are males and the rest females, Capt. Agnes Lynette Flores, PMA spokesman, said in a statement.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Jesus Verzosa would lead the ceremony at Borromeo Field.

“The recognition rite is the ceremony that plebes look forward to since this is the time when they will be formally accepted and recognized by their upper classmen as members of the cadet corps,” Flores said.

She said this is also the time when the cadets get to see their families after reporting to the PMA last April.

The 942 aspiring cadets, who passed the PMA entrance examination last August, would have to vie for a limited 300 slots.

In case more than 300 qualify, the PMA would work it out with the Armed Forces’ general headquarters.

The successful candidates would compose PMA Class of 2013.
