Vital portion of P2.2-billion Baler-Casiguran Road completed ahead of sked
CASIGURAN, Aurora – A vital portion of the P2.2-billion Baler-Casiguran Road (BCR) has been completed ahead of schedule as the Department of Public Works and Highways has stepped up construction works preparatory to the full operationalization in 2010 of the Aurora Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) in this coastal town.
DPWH Region 3 director Alfredo Tolentino said that the P47.8-million Lobbot-Gupa section in Dipaculao town of the 120-km. BCR is now 100 percent complete, after construction works for the 3.9 lineal-km. road network were finished one month ahead of the original schedule.
The completed works, Tolentino said, include pavement markings, slope protection works and drainage facilities.
The DPWH Central Luzon office has been tasked by DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. to supervise the construction of the BCR, a vital transport link from the capital town of Baler to this town where a P142-million airport and the P63-million port of entry are under construction and are set to be finished next year.
At least P100 billion has been allocated by the Arroyo administration for infrastructure in the 2009 budget, of which P1.6 billion is for the concreting of the BCR, including 16 bridges.
