Still smarting from his sad experience literally from the hands of his immediate Boss Sulu Gov. Sakur Tan, Panguntaran Mayor Ahmad Nanoh is set to file criminal and administrative charges against Tan while reporting that a grenade attack occurred at this home in Zamboanga City yesterday morning.
Nanoh called The Star yesterday saying his lawyers are preparing both cases for filing within the week.
Meanwhile, the mayor reported that a hand grenade was lobbed at his house in Southcom Village in Zamboanga City early morning yesterday. Luckily, he said, for the occupants who are his children and children of his barangay captains, the grenade did not explode.
It was not learned if the grenade attack and the NAIA incident are related.
Nanoh said that someone in the house noticed a vehicle pass by his residence at 4 a.m. yesterday with its occupant throwing something to the frontyard.
It was at 6 a.m. that it was discovered to be a grenade when some of the children saw it while cleaning the frontyard.
He said that the Zamboanga police were called to investigate and took possession of the grenade.
The mayor was slapped in the face by the governor when the two met at the baggage carousel section of the domestic Centennial Terminal 2 at the NAIA last Sunday afternoon. Both took the same PAL flight from Zamboanga.
A police report on the incident said that Tan confronted the mayor why he left his town without seeking his permission. Speaking in Tausog while pointing his finger on the mayor, Gov. Tan said “Bakit ka umalis sa munisipyo mo na di nagpaalam sa akin?” Then the governor slapped him but Mayor Nanoh did not retaliate, the report stated.
It was learned that Nanoh is one of the leaders behind a recall petition seeking the recall of Tan which is undergoing deliberation at the Comelec in Manila.
Ali Usman Jilah, head petitioner, said that Nanoh has earned the ire of Tan for having spearheaded the petition in his town wherein a vast number of residents signed the petition. – With Roel Pareño
