Suspected Sayyaf men kill 2 Marines

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Suspected Abu Sayyaf militants ambushed and killed yesterday morning two Marines in the village of Panamao town, Sulu, according to military reports here.

Reports from the Task Force Comet, based in Jolo, said that the two government troopers were on board a motorcycle when they were blocked and ambushed by a group of gunmen at the road of Barangay Kandayok, Panamao town about 6 a.m.

The two soldiers who were on their way to Jolo, the capital town of Sulu, were caught by surprise and died on the spot.

Reinforcement which arrived at the ambush site failed to catch up with the attackers who fled to unknown direction. – Roel Pareño
