3 seamen killed in Bataan mishap

BALANGA CITY – Three seamen were killed while 14 students and the driver of the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) were seriously injured when the coaster they were riding in hit a narra tree along the Roman Super Highway in the upland village of Dona, Orani town, this province, on Friday afternoon.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan, Bataan police director, identified the fatalities as Lito Angob, who died on the spot while Reynaldo Natividad and Roger Beralde, both declared dead on arrival by attending physicians in a privately-run hospital, Isaac-Catalina Medical Center, this city.

Gaerlan said the coaster vehicle, Mitsubishi Canter (ZDW-962) driven by Jayzon Dizon was heading for Metro Manila from MAAP, maritime school, located in a coastal village of Camaya, Mariveles town at about 5:30 p.m. when the right front tire of the vehicle blew-up. – Raffy Viray
