Police eye RCBC rob suspect as state witness
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police are planning to recommend one of the Rizal Commercial Bank Corp. (RCBC) bank robbery suspects to be a ‘state witness’ in the bloody massacre in Cabuyao, Laguna on May 16, Task Force RCBC investigators said.
Investigators said the Task Force is now evaluating the confession of Crisanto Alvarez, tagged as a lookout before they file a recommendation to the prosecutor’s office.
Assistant provincial prosecutor Frisco Marfil has the hands to recommend Alvarez to the court, the Task Force said.
Investigators said Alvarez has a lesser participation in the crime. Alvarez also divulged his knowledge in the robbery incident and identified Jake Javier, Jun Alvarez , Eugenio Helario and security guard Joel de la Cruz, as among the perpetrators in the robbery, the Task Force told The STAR.
Alvarez also mentioned in his sworn statement that Pepito Magsino and Montano Tolentino, who were killed in separate police operations in Tanuan, Batangas, were the masterminds of the robbery.
Task Force RCBC said if the court disapproves their recommendation, they can still use the confession of Alvarez against the suspects. – Ed Amoroso
