DAVAO CITY – The Region 11 wage board is expected to come up with a new wage order this week following a series of deliberations starting today.
The board heard yesterday afternoon the various wage proposals submitted by the management and labor sectors.
Bienvenido Cariaga, management sector representative in the wage board, said a P20 hike in the workers’ daily pay could most likely be arrived at, but it still would depend on how the deliberations would proceed.
Most wage boards in other parts of the country opted for a P20 increase in the daily pay.
Most workers in Southern Mindanao are in the agriculture sector, and the rest in the services and industry sectors.
The labor sector reportedly has two separate wage hike proposals: the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines is pushing for an P80 daily across-the-board increase, while the Alliance of Progressive Labor is demanding double the TUCP’s at P160.
