-

BALANGA CITY – Labor Secretary Marianito Roque has asked Professional Regulation Commission chairperson Leonor Rocero following a dialogue and a consultation with the Board of Nursing on the appeal of some 716 graduates of Northern Luzon and Bataan to extend the deadline for the filing of applications for the June 2008 Nurses Licensure Examination.

Roque said by virtue of the power and authority given him under EO no. 565 and 565-A, he directed the Commission to grant the appeal of the students by extending the filing of the applications for the Nurses Licensure Exam on June 1-2, 2008 by at least one day which shall be set and widely disseminated by the Commission.

The newly designated Labor Secretary explained that his decision would entail some administrative adjustments on the part of the Commission, “let me reiterate that I am very much aware of your position on the issue and I am one with you in wanting to strictly regulate the processes of licensure exams to maintain its integrity and protect the reputation of the Professional Regulation Commission.”   – Raffy Viray
