MAPANDAN, Pangasinan – The police filed Friday a case of robbery at the Prosecutor’s Office in Dagupan City against two robbers who carted away more than P1 million worth of jewelry and cash in a house owned by a Japanese and his Filipino wife in Barangay Pias here.
Chief Inspector Leonardo Tamondong, the town police chief, told The STAR yesterday that they consider this the biggest robbery-holdup incident in the town as solved following the identification and filing of case against the suspects.
Sued were Arsenio Petrola, 33, and his cousin, Alfredo Petrola, 36, both of said barangay and four other John Does.
Arsenio who used to work as houseboy of victims Rowena Matsura, 31, businesswoman, and her Japanese husband, was positively identified as among those who robbed them. The police arrested him and he consequently identified his cousin as among his companions.
Matsura, her Japanese husband and their relatives were having a barbeque party Thursday night when the Petrola cousins and four other John Does, armed with guns, barged inside their residence and carted away P800,000 worth of jewelry, P400,000 worth Rolex watch, P84,000 digital video camera, a cellular phone, and ¥132,000 and P3,000.
The victims were unhurt. However, Tamondong said the stolen items are not yet recovered. – Eva Visperas
