Korean woman wanted for killing mom

- Ed Amoroso -

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A South Korean woman is now being hunted after she was accused of killing her 66 year-old mother, whose body  was found dead in a grassy lot in Barangay San Mariano, San Pascual, Batangas, last week.

The suspect, Jeongong Wonseo, immediately fled to South Korea after her mother Yang Ja-Park was cremated.

In a phone interview, Senior Superintendent Christopher Laxa, Region 4A chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), said there is an indication that Jeongong has knowledge in the killing of her mother.

“ Based on evidence, including the footage of a video-camera in a mall, the sworn statements of Ja-Park’s family driver and several relatives, including two of Ja-Park’s sons and estranged husband, who arrived after they learned of the killing of their mother, we have a strong case against Jeongong,“ Laxa told The Star.

He said they are now preparing criminal charge against Jeongong after Task Force Ja-Park headed by Superintendent Archie Macala, found sufficient evidence to pin her down.

A South Korean representative, who was interested in the Ja-Park murder case, met Friday with Macala, Batangas-CIDG regional commander, and was briefed regarding the development of the case, Laxa said.

Task Force Ja-Park learned that the victim had several properties, businesses and investments abroad, including changes in her will and testament.

Laxa said there was a possibility that the suspect hired the services of a gun-for-hire to finish off her mother.

Before Ja-Park’s body was dumped in Batangas, the victim was accompanied by her daughter in a mall on April 3 and agreed to meet later at their rented condominium in Ortigas, San Juan. The victim, however, never showed up until her body was found.

Their neighbors said they heard two gunshots and saw a white van leaving the scene. The victim’s bag containing P51,700 was recovered.
