8 killed as bus plunges into ravine

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – At least eight passengers were killed while scores were injured when their bus plunged into a deep ravine in Diadi town yesterday.

Inspector Jeffrey Bulong, officer-in-charge of the Diadi police, said the Crude Special mini-bus was negotiating a steep zigzag portion of the national highway in Sitio Oriwong, Barangay Nagsabaran when the driver reportedly lost control of the wheel, causing the bus to fall into a ravine about 15 to 20 meters deep.

The bus, which was carrying at least 30 passengers, had come from Maddela, Quirino and was on its way to Hungduan, Ifugao via Bagabag town here when it met the accident.  – Charlie Lagasca
