No foul play in plebe’s death – PMA

An official of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) yesterday ruled out foul play in the death of a first-year cadet last Saturday after completing a swimming examination.

PMA spokesman Capt. Dennis Solomon said that while the family of Cadet Juanico San Ceballos, 19 of Banga, Aklan, did not agree to an autopsy, their physicians did not find any signs of foul play such as bruises or external wounds.

“His mother did not agree to an autopsy so our findings depend on what was determined by doctors at the PMA, who said the cause of death was cardio-pulmonary arrest. Now we don’t know what might have caused it,” he said.

Solomon said the PMA Tactics Group though is conducting a separate investigation into Ceballos’ death. – James Mananghaya, Artemio Dumlao
