UPLB research building fired at

Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna – Tension gripped the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) campus when unidentified men strafed a research building last Saturday morning, police said.

Senior Superintendent Felipe Rojas Jr., Laguna police director, said a group of men aboard a vehicle hurriedly passed by the building of the Dairy Training Research Institute and opened fire with an M-16 Armalite rifle at around 12:10 am.

No one was reported hurt in the incident. The attack merely damaged a refrigerator and an electric fan in the building’s salesroom.

Initial reports said some 40 M-16 spent shells were found at the scene.

Probers are investigating a group of security guards who might have been disgusted when they lost their posts after the UPLB hired a new security agency.
