Batangas murder cases remain unsolved

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Last year, several businessmen were reportedly killed in Batangas, but, until now, not one of the murder cases has been solved. On Saturday morning, two more traders were shot dead by two robbers in Lipa City, Batangas.

The latest traders who were killed in Batangas were identified as Edmund Casio, 45, of Canlubang, Laguna and his partner a certain Tony, both engaged in selling and buying scrap materials.

According to reports, the victims on board their Mitsubishi L-300 (WKR-327) were traversing Barangay Munting Pulo at around 10:30 a.m., when they were blocked by two unidentified armed men and were shot at close range by the suspected robbers. The robbers escaped with their loot amounting to P350,000.

The crime is still under investigation by the Lipa, Batangas police.

Last year, a poultry owner, Joseph Maligaya, 39, was shot dead by unidentified armed men at his store in Barangay Sta. Rita Karsada, Batangas. Up to now, the Maligaya murder case is still under investigation by the Batangas police.

Another Batangas businessman, Rodolfo Catibog, 62, was shot several times while he was walking on his way home in Barangay Poblacion, San Pascual town.

The gunslaying of a wine shop owner and the wounding of his son in Batangas remain unsolved.  – Ed Amoroso
