Father kills own son in Cavite

Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna – A 30-year-old man was killed by his own father after a heated argument in Bacoor, Cavite last week, police said yesterday.

In a belated report reaching this camp, Superintendent Mario Reyes, Rosario police chief identified the victim as Joseph Bumatay, of Barangay Zapote 1, Bacoor. 

The victim’s father Ernesto, 57 was arrested and detained at the Bacoor police station.

Ernesto was arrested after he stabbed his own son inside their house. 

Bumatay’s neighbors narrated that they heard the father and son quarreling after Joseph tried to stop his father from drinking liquor.  

“Lagi kasing lasing ang matandang Bumatay kaya lagi silang nagtatalo hanggang sa makarinig nalang kami ng malakas na komosyon sa kanilang bahay,” a neighbor told police investigators.

Police said the neighbors reported the incident to the barangay hall and the barangay police subsequently proceeded to Bumatay’s residence where they found Joseph dead.

Joseph was rushed to Las Piñas Distict Hospital but he died on the way to the hospital with a stab wound in the chest.

Police filed charges of parricide against Ernesto.  – Arnell Ozaeta
