2 septuagenarian sisters found dead

BULAKAN, Bulacan – Two septuagenarian sisters were found dead with hack and stab wounds inside their house here Monday night, police said.

Chief Inspector Dale Soliba, municipal police chief, said sisters Fredilicta, 79, and Lutgarda Santos, 77, both unmarried, were believed killed between 9 and 10 p.m. Monday.

The killing was only discovered the following morning when a relative of the Santoses became suspicious when the two sisters failed to open their sari-sari store as they used to do every day.

Fredilicta’s body bearing hack wounds was found inside her room, while that of Lutgarda, who was stabbed dead, was in the comfort room.

Police have yet to locate the murder weapon.

Probers initially eyed robbery in the sisters’ killing, but later said they were not discounting family feud or business rivalry as they were also engaged in the sale of ready-to-wear dresses and jeans. – Dino Balabo, Ric Sapnu
