2 injured in Zambo explosion

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A father and his son were seriously injured in an explosion that rocked a coastal Muslim village in this southern port city yesterday afternoon, police said.

The blast ripped through the house on stilts of Benhar Yasim in Barangay Bugok, injuring him and his son Abdulsabal. The two were rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment.

Police suspect that father and son were making an improvised explosive, which, however, accidentally went off. Police bomb experts found several blasting caps in the Yasims’ house.

Police said the explosion tore the ceiling and wooden flooring of the house.  Roel Pareño
