Surveillance cameras mounted in SK public places
“(The surveillance cameras) will operate on 24-hour basis to ensure the safety of the people against any atrocities. Ang mga terorista wala naman kasing pinipiling oras para mag-atake (The terrorists don’t choose the time they would attack). So, we should be prepared at all times,” Gov. Datu Suharto Mangudadatu told The STAR after delivering the State of the Province Address at the newly built provincial capitol yesterday.
Mangudadatu said beefing up security in the entire province, especially in
Police and military blamed the attacks on the Indonesian terror group Jemaah Islamiyah, the Abu Sayyaf and the Al Khobar extortion gang.
Mangudadatu said the purchase of the surveillance cameras was made possible through the P10-million fund given by President Arroyo to Sultan Kudarat. The money was released through the Department of Budget and Management.
Mangudadatu, reportedly the godson of President Arroyo and First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, said the installation of the surveillance cameras is in line with the Human Security Act.
Meanwhile, the governor is set to turn over a vehicle to the bomb disposal unit of the provincial police.
