Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna – A 45-year-old drunk killed his pregnant wife, his mother-in-law and his daughter inside their home in Tanza, Cavite last Sunday evening, police said.
Superintendent Randolf Tuano, Tanza police chief, said the suspect identified as Cecilio Mangalino, an ice cream vendor, used a pick-axe and hacked to death his wife Prulinda, 37, his mother-in-law Luz Madriaga, 50 and his daughter Carolina, 8, who were all sleeping at around 11 p.m. while at their house in Barangay Biga.
The suspect also attacked his two other daughters Cessilyn, 12, and Crizamae, 3, who are now in critical condition at Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital in Tanza, Cavite after sustaining multiple hack wounds on their bodies.
Investigations revealed that Cecilio and his wife Prulinda had a heated argument hours before the killing, police said.
Probers said the suspect left their house after quarelling with his wife and returned a few minutes later armed with a pick-axe. – With Ed Amoroso, Cecille Suerte Felipe
