SK bet killed as lightning hits videoke bar

DAVAO CITY – A 16-year-old student was killed while 14 others were injured when lighting struck a videoke bar in San Isidro, Davao del Norte Sunday night, authorities said.

The fatality, Noly Tañeza, a candidate for kagawad in the Sanggu­niang Kabataan elections on Oct. 29, reportedly went to the place accompanied by a group of teenagers, to campaign.

However, heavy rains forced Tañeza’s group to seek shelter in a videoke bar made of bamboo and nipa. To while away their time, the group decided to sing along.

But in the midst of all the fun, lightning reportedly struck the bar, killing Tañeza on the spot and causing minor injuries to his supporters.      – Edith Regalado
