Tullahan bridge closed again

The Department of Public Works and Highways has closed the Tullahan bridge in Northern Metro Manila today after reopening yesterday in another flip-flop move in the P63-million reconstruction project that has been marred by anomalies.

DPWH Assistant Regional Director for National Capital Region Engr. Angelito Twaño said they decided to close the bridge to traffic after discocovering defects and potholes.

Twaño clarified that the closure of the bridge was not a surprise move since their earlier decision to reopen two lanes to light vehicles yesterday was "part of testing of the stability of the bases of the approaches."

Tullahan was opened to the public yesterday morning following a six month wait but was criticized by its mayor for due to unfinished construction.
