LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – A 57-year-old resident of Tayug town, who had just filed his certificate of candidacy for barangay chairman, was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men in front of his house last Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Police said the victim, Jaime Tolentino Sr., who was aspiring to be the chairman of Barangay Carriedo, died at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital from five bullet wounds in the chest and abdomen.
A stray bullet hit Tolentino’s son, Marlon, 24, in the right leg.
Probers found six spent caliber .45 shells at the crime scene. – Cesar Ramirez
