Report: KAMPI exec denies making bribe offer
An executive officer of President Gloria Arroyo's administration party denied on Tuesday that he had offered money as bribe to opposition legislators to endorse the latest impeachment complaint in Congress.
In a television interview, lawyer Francis Ver said he "categorically and vehemently" denied the charge against him by Anakbayan partylist representative Crispin Beltran that he had been offered P2 million by Ver.
Ver, who is the deputy secretary-general of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (KAMPI), admitted he had talked to Beltran but said he had not been soliciting support for the complaint.
He said he had talked to Beltran at the House plenary hall last Friday but added he was only monitoring events at the lower chamber.
Earlier, lawyer Roberto Pulido filed an impeachment complaint against the President at the House of Representatives. The complaint was endorsed by Laguna 4th district Rep. Edgar San Luis.
