Malacañang expressed disappointment Tuesday over the allegations brought up at the House of Representatives that an administration ally had tried to bribe opposition solons to endorse the impeachment complaint against President Gloria Arroyo.
Anakpawis partylist solon Crispin Beltran revealed Tuesday that it was Francis Ver, the deputy secretary-general of KAMPI (Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino), that offered him P2 million pesos as bribe to support the impeachment complaint in Congress.
Press Secretary Ignacio R. Bunye said in a statement, "We are disappointed, but not the least surprised, at this unsubstantiated allegation."
"On her part, the President will just stay focused on keeping the nation on track even if her detractors have nothing better to do than continue down their bitter path," Bunye said.
