President Gloria Arroyo and the Armed Forces of the Philippines led the nation in celebrating Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s victory over Mexico’s Marco Antonio “Baby Face Assassin” Barrera.
The President said Pacman’s victory has once again buoyed the national pride with his fighting form and indomitable spirit.
For his part, AFP chief Lt. Gen. Hermogenes Esperon said Pacman’s win would inspire soldiers to accomplish their mission in combating insurgency and terrorism. The AFP observed an “undeclared” nationwide ceasefire with all rebel groups to lead the Filipino nation in cheering for Pacquiao in his World Boxing Council International super featherweight title defense against Barrera in Las Vegas.
