Workers nationwide can look forward to another hefty pay on long weekends.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Thursday reminded employers to provide additional pay to their workers who will be reporting for work on Oct. 12.
Labor Undersecretary Romeo Lagman said Oct. 12 (Friday) is a regular holiday thus workers who will opt to report for work are entitled to get double or 200 percent of their basic pay.
Lagman also said that workers will still receive their daily pay even if they will not report for work on Friday.
Workers who will render more than eight hours of work will also receive another 30 percent on top of the 200 percent pay.
Workers who are supposed to take their day off but were required to work are entitled to additional 30 percent for the first eight hours of work and another 30 percent for their work in excess of eight hours.
Earlier, Malacañang declared Oct. 12 as a regular holiday in observance of the Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of the 40-day fasting for Muslims. – Mayen Jaymalin
