Typhoon 'Ineng' slows down, still moving towards Batanes
Typhoon 'Ineng' (international codename: Krosa) on Friday has slowed down slightly and continues to move towards Batanes-Taiwan Area, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The typhoon's center was located at 320 kms east of Basco, Batanes, with a strength of maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph. The typhoon was moving west-northwest at 9 kph.
The weather agency said the typhoon would be located 210 kms northeast of Basco, Batanes by Saturday morning. By Monday morning, it would be 440 kms North Northwest of Basco, Batanes or
180 kms Northwest of Kaoshiung, Taiwan.
Signal no.3 (100-185 kph winds) was hoisted over the Batanes group of islands. Meanwhile, signal no. 2 (60-100 kph winds) was raised over Cagayan and Babuyan islands. Lastly, signal no. 1 (30-60 kph winds) was over Isabela, Quirino, Kalinga Apayao, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Northern Aurora.
Residents under public storm warning signal are alerted against big waves generated by this typhoon.
Typhoon "Ineng " will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon which will bring rains over Luzon and Visayas particularly the western sections.
