Abalos faces impeachment raps at the House for NBN deal

-

Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico fulfilled his threat Thursday and filed an impeachment complaint against poll commissioner chair Benjamin Abalos, Sr. at the House of Representatives.

Suplico filed the complaint in connection to Abalos' alleged role in the government's controversial National Broadband Network deal with the Chinese firm ZTE Corp.

Suplico's complaint was endorsed by opposition congressmen Teofisto Guingona III of Bukidnon and Teodoro Casiño of the partylist Bayan Muna, as well as administration solon Ma. Isabelle Climaco of Zamboanga City.

In the 64-page complaint, Abalos is charged with culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption and bribery.
