Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago said Thursday she would apologize to the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines for her outburst during the previous day's Senate hearing.
Santiago had referred to the Chinese yesterday as "inventing" civilization in the East as well as corruption.
"China invented civilization in the East, but as well it invented corruption for all of human civilization," said Santiago, who chairs the Senate foreign relations committee, during yesterday's hearing.
She likewise said she did not mean to hurt the Chinese as her husband is of Chinese blood.
