KORONADAL CITY – Police in nearby Polomolok town have beefed up security for a Dutch woman and her son after the Al-Khobar extortion gang reportedly threatened to kidnap them.
Superintendent Raul Supiter, Polomolok police chief, said he has instructed his men to secure Allen Van Teeseling, 42, and her son, who are residing in Barangay Poblacion.
Supiter said mother and son will be provided with police security for as long as there is a threat to their safety.
Supiter said Teeseling and her son sought police assistance last Monday afternoon after she received several text messages from a certain “Jamil,” who claimed to be a member of Al-Khobar, demanding P2.5 million as “protection money” during their stay in Polomolok.
“2.5 milyon pesos from you, if you will not give, we will get you or your son,” the text message stated.
Teeseling’s husband Dick is still in the Netherlands.
Al-Khobar was tagged in the series of bombings against the Weena and Yellow bus companies.
