-

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Monday said her husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, can now play 18 holes of golf thanks the doctors of St. Luke's Medical Center who saved his life.

Given the fact that the delicate heart operation that the First Husband had undergone had a mortality rate of 40 percent, Pres. Arroyo vowed to thank her husband's doctors by ensuring the health and well-being of Filipinos in her various programs.

The President have this acknowledgement on the 21st anniversary of St. Luke's Medical Center, citing heart surgeon Dr. Rommel Carino who led the surgical team.

She also thanked Dr. Juliet Gopez-Cervantes, their attending physician.

The First Gentleman was given an aneurysmectomy and triple bypass last April 9 after the latter was hospitalized after complaining of stomach pains.  He was discharged last May 1.
