TAIPEI (AFP) - Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian has been forced to name a new envoy to the APEC summit in Australia after China objected to his first choice, a report said Sunday.
Chen had wanted former vice premier Tsai Ing-wen to represent him at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Sydney September 8-9, the Taipei-based China Times said.
But Beijing voiced its objection and Chen will propose a new candidate, it said.
