COTABATO CITY – A young Moro datu from Shariff Kabunsuan province is one of the nine Filipino recipients of the renowned Fulbright Scholarship grant of the United States.
Lawyer Datu Reza Cang Sinsuat, who graduated from the Ateneo de Manila Law school in 2002, received a grant to pursue an executive masters degree at the Syracuse University in New York, a popular school of public administration in the US.
Sinsuat was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2003 and has since been working as legal consultant for different government agencies.
Sinsuat, son of agricultural entrepreneur Datu Em and Bai Socorro, hails from the newly created Datu Blah town in Shariff Kabunsuan.
The Fulbright scholarship is an international educational exchange program of the US government, founded by Sen. William Fulbright in 1945.
The senator viewed the program as a vital tool for fostering cooperation and solidarity between US citizens and the countries where the scholars come from, following the devastation wrought by World War II.
The program was approved as a US government thrust by President Harry Truman.
The Fulbright program has granted scholarships to 297, 500 beneficiaries since its inception.
